Well first off, next week I am officially halfway done with my pregnancy and couldn't be more thrilled! I have been so dang sick this time and the nausea has barely started to subside. We were thrilled to find out that Olivia is getting a baby BROTHER! June cant come fast enough for us.

Christmas was fun as usual; filled with family and warm Vegas weather. Olivia turns 3 in two weeks so we are heading back down to celebrate her birthday with all the cousins! It should be fun. I love going home and visiting in the winter.

The kids love to bake so we made alphabet sugar cookies at Zander's house and then delivered them to the kids friends in the neighborhood. They love everything about our freezing Saturday!

So this summer we have been sooooo lucky and went on 3 trips. Our first trip was just Dave and I with Dad, Diana, and her kids. We went to the Western Caribbean-----so amazing.

A few of the highlights:

~Swimming with stingrays in Grand Cayman

~Tubing down the a river in Jamaica

~Hiking up River Dunn Falls in Jamaica

~Laying on the rafts in Cozymel eating guacamole and daiquiri's

~Snorkeling everywhere in WARM water

Seriously it is always hard to leave Olivia but I saw other little kids around her age on that trip with their parents and they looked MISERABLE. I just think it is a lot for such a small child to take in. So maybe when she is older we will take our kids.

Then we went with the most of the Christensen family to Laguna. Sadly many of our family from MO couldn't make it. Laguna was so fun and much needed family time with Olivia after being away from her. The little place we stayed at was perfect for families and I love how Grandpa Christensen has taken the family down there for the past several years. Good Tradition! We spent our 4 days playing on the beach and going to Sea World.

Then 2 weeks later we went on our 2nd cruise......yes 2nd cruise in less than a month. We went with all the Christensen adults on a trip to the Eastern Seaboard that started in NYC and went up to Canada.

We are so lucky and blessed to have such wonderful families. It is so fun to travel the world, but to travel with all the Christensen's is even more of a treat. I get teary thinking about how grateful I am. My mom and sister helped so much with Olivia, I don't know what we would have done without them.

It is true. We have been on a hiatus. This summer Dave and I went to the Caribbean with his Dad and family. It was AMAZING. I have never felt the warm ocean or seen the white sandy beaches that exist there. Simply perfect! I have to post about that trip in itself. But while we were gone Olivia stayed here with Grandma. Then we went to Laguna with the Christensen Clan last week for a quick trip. It was way fun to be down in So Cal this time of year. Now I am here having fun with Olivia while I await my next cruise......yes, that's right.....cruise 2. This summer has been "Christensen family filled" but we are having a blast. LOVE SUMMER.

Disneyland 2011

We (Mom, sister, and I ) had so much fun these past two weeks. Olivia and I ventured down to Vegas for the first time alone in my car. We usually fly but this time I decided since I had a dvd player, I would try. Olivia did relatively well. About the last hour of the trip each way, she would want to jump out of her seat. We stayed in Vegas for a 10 days and then spent 4 days in CALIFORNIA! It was so much fun.

We spent Thursday and Friday at the beach and shopping and then Saturday we decided at the last minute to go to Disneyland. We didn't wait longer than 25 min. in any line. It was 65 degrees and overcast. Couldn't have asked for a better day!

A little Nordstrom Therapy

Last night I ventured down to SLC solo to the Rack in Sugarhouse. I adore Sugarhouse because of the atmosphere there. Watching fellow joggers and bikers, which are in abundance in that area, always brings a smile to my face. I would LOVE to live over there.

Anyway, onto the point of the post. I scored some sooooo cute UGG boots for 90$. I paid 150$ for mine this year. In addition I found a pair of skinny jeans and some new Asics. My total bill was $186.80. SCORE! I love me some Nordstrom therapy.

The first is just a good classic. I read it in college and it is a must-read for any who enjoys reading about unlikely romances. Stories of two people who fall in love when they are opposites always gets me sucked in.

And of course.....Eclipse. I am an Edward fan so I absolutely like this book the most. :) Although the whole series is good.

I have decided to make a list of places I plan to go in my life. I feel like if I write them down, it inches me that much closer to going. So hear it goes, a list of the places with an explanation.

1. Italy

Anyone who knows me well knows that I am half Italian. My biological father's side of the family was either atheist or Roman Catholic. I have always wanted to find where my roots are. In doing genealogy research some of my ancestors have been hard to find because they changed their names to sound more "American" when they came here.

I want to travel the whole country. Milan, Rome, Naples and of course go see all the ruins. But in addition, I want to go to the far north western countryside where some of my ancestors came from. I plan on taking as many names of my family that I can to do their temple work in the Rome temple.

2. Fiji

I want to stay in one of those bungalows on the ocean. It just looks amazing.

3. Kaanapali Beach, Hawaii

Enough said, who doesn't want to go to Hawaii

4. Disney World

I LOVE Disney Land. How fun would it be to go to a place triple the size with all the extra Universal Studios and such.

5. Western Caribbean Cruise

My mom and brother went and said it is a must see.

Olivia Olivia...........

Ok, our little girl just turned 2. Birthdays are bittersweet for many moms I think, me included. It really doesn't feel like she has been here for 2 years already but yet it seems like a faint memory when it was just Dave and me. I love being a mom to such a sweet little spirit. She is very smart, headstrong, stubborn, and loves girly things. In addition to loving barbies and baby dolls, Olivia loves to get dirty in the garage while Dave works on projects. The stats from her 2 year well checkup are - Weight 27.5 lbs. , Head cir. 50, and Height 35 inches. She is happy, healthy, and growing perfectly. Here are some pic's

Rambling for a minute. It might not make much sense.

The pace of this day in age is not only fast paced, but at times more of a constant run! We truly do it to ourselves though. No one has been forced into this lifestyle. But certain things cant seem to go fast enough. It is not uncommon to hear "Oh I wish that I could just skip this trial in my life." Then after the time truly does fly by, that same person is saying, "oh I wish that it could of lasted longer." The realization usually comes when all of the blessings that surrounded them become appreciated.

Common trials are money struggles, job loss, distance from family, parenting woes, illness, betrayal, grudge holding, and the list goes on. The most important thing is I dont want my certain trials to consume me so much that I cannot focus on the blessings that surround me. Because while the Lord wont take away our trials, he will send his angels to lift us up and bless our lives with things that can help us through; if we will allow them to.

Appreciate the blessings.

Wow, I am exhausted tonight. I try not to nap on Sundays very often because it throws me off. My week is going to be full this week. I go to Missouri to get my teeth adjusted on Thursday. Always a fast paced day when I do that. Can't believe that I have had these "train tracks" on for 6 months. My orthodontist David M. (cousin) is one of the most generous guys. I will be in debt to him forever for giving me a pretty smile. :)

I need to finish up some Christmas shopping this week so next week I can focus on Monday and getting ready to go back to Vegas on the 18th. :)

Random Note:

Dave and I were talking with our neighbors tonight and saying how lucky we are to have such great in-laws. Both of us love our in-laws a lot. Dave's dad is nothing short of a saint. Grandpa said he named him David Jerome after "Saint Jerome". He was right on target. The more I get to know Diana the more I love her. It seems like Grandpa Vern has been a part of my life forever. He has treated me like gold since I came into this family. Grasping how it will be when he passes on brings tears to my eyes just thinking of it.

I really did marry into such a wonderful family and consider it an honor to be part of the Vern and Doris Christensen Clan.

A Goal

I sincerely miss writing. What many people don't know about me is I went to school and got my B.A. in English-Emphasis writing. Writing is my outlet, my peace. I let down my hair and speak the thoughts that flood my head. In college, I tried to chose a major that I felt good at. Writing is it. From here on, I want to write more. Not just on my blog, but write more letters, cards, journal entries, emails, whatever. Although it is more time consuming, I need to squeeze it in at least a couple minutes each day.

Today I have been pondering the idea of things that don't go away. Constant things. The only thing that I can think of right now is FAMILY.

Family is the only thing that is permanent. Once you are born into a family nothing can change that. That DNA is what links each member. It can be changed by adding but not taking away. Even divorce is something only on paper. The children between the two divorcees join them together forever. I believe if you loved someone enough to marry them at one point, after your heart is healed and the hurt is gone, you will always have a place for that person.

Strong families are hard to find. I can think of only a few in my own head that I consider "strong." That strength comes from getting along, being understanding, compassionate, selfless, and the willingness to put forth sincere effort to make a family the highest priority. Those relationships carry us through those times when we feel most alone. Even if there is great distance between people, the very thought of them brings hope. How sad it is for those who have suffering relationships with family members.

I don't do well with change particularly when something changes and goes away. To know that one thing is constant and isn't going to disappear is so comforting.

Ok, so these past two weeks have been very fun for Olivia and I in particular. First off, Grandma came to visit us the week before Thanksgiving. We had fun just laying around, watching movies, taking long walks, eating, etc. We just love having Grandma here. Dave and I even got to catch a movie one night. We had not been to a movie together in like ages! For all those people out there who live close to MANY babysitters (aka Lifesavers, family) you should really appreciate that you have that little luxury in life.

Then at the end of the week we jumped in the car and headed south to LV with Grandma. Grandpa Kunta had a heart surgery right before Thanksgiving so Olivia and I went down early. Ahhhh....... LOVE going home. Especially when a big storm hits when I leave. :)

October flies by

Wow, all that I can say is where does the time go. I have to say that I know I need to be better with blogging and better at taking pictures so our families that don't live nearby can feel like they are in touch with us.

Let me just start out with the fact that I LOVE the holidays. Fall is by far the most beautiful of all seasons here in Utah. Don't get me wrong, summer is gorgeous, green, and full of sunshine. But there is a tranquility that comes with the falling, colored leaves, the smells, and empty branches that will soon be covered with white. I savor this in between stage.

Halloween is so fun with a kid. Olivia loved the pumpkin patch. This girl has no fear. The slides were huge and her and Halia couldn't get enough. We went with our good friends and neighbors. Friday night was the ward trunk-r-treat. The kids loved it and our family dressed up as punk rockers.

We are so lucky to live in a neighborhood with so many little kids for our daughter to play with and with so many fun friends for us. At least if we cant be with our family we can be surrounded by fun friends.

Ok, my camera is still in the car so tomorrow I will post pics of the Pumpkin Patch out in Syracuse yesterday.

We went with some of our favorite people down the street. Our little girls have so much fun together. The tractor ride out to the pumpkin patch was super fun. To our surprise our two-year --olds were the ONLY kids on the ride so everyone got a kick out of them.

Tonight we went to a Mexican place that was just soooooooo Utah. Those who have not lived here their whole life know what I mean. I miss places like Gardino's and even Chevy's in Vegas. I have yet to find a Mexi restaurant that I love yet. I want to go to a place where fry sauce is not the #1 condiment served :).

FUN TIMES IN THE SUMMER

Summer is well underway and I think it is our favorite time of the year. We have been doing so many fun things. Every year we (mom, sister, Dave, I and sometimes more) head down to the Newport/Laguna for at least a week and just soak up the sun.....not this year. It was pretty dang cold. The sun barely peaked out a few times and we wore hoodies most days. It was still a blast and we loved every minute. A lot of the Christensen family joined us toward the end of the week which made it even more fun. The other pics at the top are from the Hogle Zoo. Olivia loves the new baby elephant Zuri! She is our favorite. :)

To start, we had a fun BBQ with friends on Memorial Day. The weather was perfect, the food was delish, and it was so fun to hang out with good company.

Olivia Turns 1

Last Monday was Olivia's birthday. It makes me wanna cry to think my little baby is 1. I still feel like I just had her. She is the best little addition to our family. I am so blessed to have such a beautiful daughter. Grandma and Grandpa L, Auntee Kathy, and Corny came up to celebrate. Our 'desert rats' for family were anxious to get out and enjoy the snow. We decided to take Olivia tubing and it was a blast. I have to find more pics from tubing but here is one. Olivia has two best friends. One is Zander, who is the same age, and the other is Katie. Zander was sick so he couldn't go tubing but Katie and her family came. We had so much fun.

Here's what we have been up to lately

I have been a blogger slacker. I have a good excuse though. Between the months of November and January we traveled to Vegas a total of 6 times. We had two funerals (Uncle Roland & Aunt Jennie), Thanksgiving, Christmas, and then the other was a short weekend trip. So now that we are back in the snow for the time being we have kept busy. Next Monday Olivia turns 1! I am in utter shock. I feel like she has barely been here but at the same time I rarely remember daily life without her. Here are some glimpses of what we do around here.......trust me it's really exciting!

Olivia has taken a liking to music and loves to play her xylophone
Realizes that toes are useful for more than just walking.
Playing with something that is going to go on one of Daddy's many projects.
She enjoys the blow-dryer a lot. Whether it's to warm up after a bath or to suck on the plug, she is happy. ( I know I am a bad mom to let her suck on a plug)
She sleeps roughly 3 out of the 7 hour car ride to Vegas.
She is sloooooowly taking a liking to food; I mean slow. Her world is gonna come crashing down when the bottle is eliminated.
She loves to sit in the shopping cart when Katie or Zander are riding close!
Last week we drove out to Hooper and picked out a puppy for Uncle Paul and Aunt April! We love Tonka. Out of the 8 puppies he was the first to run right to us and love on Olivia. We knew he was the one!

This pic is for Dan Baldwin. If anyone knows a Christensen you probably know they are soda junkies. Diet soda to be exact. Dan says whenever a baby is crying "Just give them a little Diet Coke and that will fix it." Well she did get the can but it wasn't open. I am going to try and avoid the addiction with my kids! On our trip to Europe you should have seen the family trying to search out soda when they were off the boat, it was a frenzy!

Olivia finally fits in this cute dress Aunt April got her when she was like 1 month old. She finally held still for a minute! We forgot the cute shrug to go over it, oh well.

Ok so Olivia and I have been busy running around lately. We found a Halloween costume for her that she actually grabbed while walking past a rack of them. I would have passed right by. It is a cute little giraffe that is a comfy velour outfit, which is good for the cold weather of FALL.

what we have been up to.....

We had quite a big August. So big that I have like 405 pictures to represent the extravagant events. We began the month with a two week cruise of the Baltic Sea. Grandpa Vern and Dad called us in June to let us know that Grandpa decided to take everyone in the family over the age of 18 on this cruise. So 31 people hopped on a 747 August 1st and off we went.

The places that we went to were Copenhagen, Tallin, Berlin, St. Petersburg, Sweden, and Helsinki. Here are a few pics. If you wanna see more then you have to get a hold of my laptop.

Olivia stayed at home with Gramma and had a ball. When she saw us at the airport after 14 days she was so casual....if she could speak she would of said, "oh hey guys." We really missed her though. It tops one of the hardest things I have had to do is leave my baby for such a long time.

Olivia reached her 6 month age and now crawls, takes only a bottle and fights baby food, screams at the top of her lungs, fits in shoes, is in the 90th percentile for height and weight, and is the HIGHLIGHT of mine and Dave's life.

Our Labor Day!

For Labor Day Daddy was sick.....way sick. He didn't get out of bed all day, which is so not like Dave. So Olivia and I went to the neighbors to see what Jess and Zan were doing. So Olivia is having some issues right now. She has taken a bottle since she was six weeks old and now she has decided she hates the bottle and refuses to drink it. HELP! I have to get her to take a bottle. I have to wean her onto a bottle before August.

The Story

Some people have asked me to tell "the story" of delivery. Here it goes....

So last Sunday, February 8th I got to the hospital around 6pm. I was immediately hooked up to a monitor to see how far along my labor was. My contractions were 3 minutes apart but I was only dilated to a 1. The baby was still high up and her head wasn't engaged or anything. After much contemplation we decided to take her c-section to avoid risks.

Within 3 minutes I was wheeled off to surgery. Dave and I both couldn't believe how fast everything was happening. It was a lot to take in. After I got the epidural and my doctor came in she was born within 5 minutes. I felt no pain, just tons of pressure because they had to push real hard on my stomach to get her to drop down.

Olivia weighed in at 6 pounds 15 ounces, and 19 1/2 inches long. She wasnt even crying when she entered the world. My mom was able to come in the delivery room right after she was born to be with me while Dave went with the baby to get bathed and such.

I am so blessed to have had such a good experience. My doctor was absolutely wonderful and Olivia is healthy and happy. I am just dealing with the whole post pregnancy stuff..... sleepless nights and the crying mood swings.

My husband is such a blessing in my life. He has been so sweet and understanding throughout this whole experience. He brought me beautiful flowers at the hospital with my favorite candies and other things to make me more comfortable. He is so sweet to his new daughter. I love watching them together even this early. My mom is here to be with me all day while Dave is at work. I am so grateful for her. I don't know what I would do without her.

So I couldn't find bedding that I liked for Olivia's room after searching stores, online, and catalogs. So my brilliant mother and I picked out fabric and made our own. She did most of the sewing but I was a good assistant!

Last Weekend

Last weekend was so fun and memorable. My family came up to visit Dave and me for the first time all together (minus Bryan). They wanted to attend General Conference, which is something none of them have ever done. The weather was rainy, windy, and plain cold which squashed our plans for fishing on Saturday. It turned out fine though. We went to a movie and out to eat instead. Then Sunday my family didn't have tickets to get in so they stood in the standby line. As it turned out they were able to sit on the ground floor in row 10 and we were all the way in the balcony. I am glad they were able to be so close since we had already been to conference before.

girl! We are really excited. My mom was here for the ultrasound. We have had so much fun shopping and just having girl time since she has been here. I miss her so much since we live so far away. I guess it could be worse though. At least we are only 8 hours away in a car and 1 hour in a plane.

I went to the spa today for some much needed rest and relaxation. Dave gave me a gift certificate for my birthday. First I started off with an 80 minute massage! It was soooo nice. I was a little worried about being uncomfortable because laying on my stomach hurts. But they used this special pillow that I laid on and it made a big difference. Next was a facial. It was one that focused on exfoliating my pores. Ahh bliss! Thanks babe for a wonderful afternoon! I love you!
